Innovations Take Center Stage: Highlights from the STEM Fair

Posted Date: 03/12/26 (08:00 AM)

Our hallways were buzz with scientific curiosity and technological wonder as the gymnasium hosted the Annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Fair. This year's fair was the largest yet, showcasing projects from 6th, 7th, and 8th graders that tackled everything from water purification methods and renewable energy sources to robotics and mobile app development. The level of complexity and critical thinking displayed by all participants was truly outstanding.

"The STEM fair encourages our students to ask 'why' and 'how' about the world around them," remarked Science Department Chair, Dr. Elara Vance. "It’s not just about the final display board; it’s about the process of trial and error, and the persistence required to solve real-world problems." A panel of guest judges from local tech companies and universities spent the afternoon interviewing students, impressed by the rigor of their methodologies and the clarity of their findings.

Eighth-grader Samuel Lee, who designed a low-cost water filtration system for his project, commented, "I learned that even small changes can make a big difference. I want to continue developing this idea to help people who don't have access to clean water." Important Reminder: The top five projects from each grade level will be advancing to the regional STEM competition next month. We wish our young innovators the best of luck as they represent our school at the next level!
