Celebrating Scholarship and Service: National Junior Honor Society Induction

Last night, we were honored to celebrate the newest members of our school’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). The candle-lighting ceremony in the auditorium was a poignant reminder of the dedication, character, and hard work demonstrated by these exceptional students. To be considered for NJHS, students must not only maintain a high cumulative GPA but also demonstrate strong leadership qualities, service to the school or community, and exemplary character.
Our guest speaker, Mayor Johnson, emphasized the role these young leaders play in the community. "Scholarship is the foundation, but character is the compass," the Mayor told the inductees. "Use your skills not just to succeed, but to serve others and lead by example." As each student’s name was called, they stepped forward to receive their NJHS pin and sign the chapter register, a symbolic commitment to uphold the five pillars of the organization.

Eighth-grade NJHS advisor, Mrs. Davis, expressed her pride in the new inductees, stating, "This group has shown incredible resilience and a genuine commitment to making our school a better place through their volunteer efforts and positive influence." Important Reminder: The first mandatory meeting for all new and returning NJHS members will be next Wednesday in the media center. We will be discussing our signature spring service project, so please plan to attend. Congratulations to all our new members!
